Sapphire is September’s birthstone. Many people love Sapphires for their vibrant blue color. Did you know that there are many myths and legends surrounding sapphires?
Not only are sapphires amazing set in fine horse jewelry, they’re thought to protect the wearer against envy and jealousy.
According to legend, if you immerse a snake in a vessel full of water and a sapphire, the snake will die. Personally, we can’t vouch for the truth of this, because if there’s a snake in the barn, the first thought is to get the snake out of the barn, not go running for the jewelry box!
Back in the day, people would grind up sapphires and use them as medicine for colic, rheumatism, mental illness and weak eyesight. Again, not recommended. Eating sapphires seems far more likely to cause an upset stomach than to cure one. It’s much better to wear sapphire horse jewelry!
We love this 14K Gold Ribbon Pendant with diamonds and sapphire. It’s shown slightly larger in the picture so you can see the detail. In real life, it’s 7/8″ long – just under an inch. Lots of sparkle and shine. The blue ribbon design is perfect for any champion. It’s a great gift for your favorite competitor, a beloved coach, or to reward yourself!
Check out these sapphire horse earrings. The 14K Gold Stirrup Stud Earrings with Diamond and Sapphire feature a center sapphire that sparkles brilliant and four lovely diamonds on the stirrup tread. They’re slightly more than a half-inch long: just big enough to make a statement about your love for horses and your personal style without being too overwhelming. These earrings remain one of our best sellers, as people just love them. They’re appropriate for every occasion.
Oh the summer night
Has a smile of light
And she sits on a sapphire throne…
