Once upon a time, I knew a little mare named Sue Ellen. Sue Ellen was a companion pony to some fairly high strung thoroughbreds (is there any other kind?) and nothing rattled her. You could have barking dogs, honking horns, a marching band going by playing Gungam Style -she wouldn’t even flicker an ear. She was as calm as calm could be. This calmness was a positive force for the other horses. They seemed to mellow out when she was around.
All bets were off, however, if there was a big storm coming. Somewhere in Sue Ellen’s life, she learned she really didn’t like extreme weather. When she knew it was coming, she’d try to hide. One time she managed to wedge herself into a tack room you wouldn’t think was large enough to hold a freaked-out pony. By the time we got her out of there, we’d had enough rain to provoke regional flash flooding. I began to trust Sue Ellen’s weather forecasting abilities. If she was worried, I’d be worried too…perhaps you have a horse like this in your barn?
Now with Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East Coast, I’d give anything to know where Sue Ellen is right this minute. Even without her around, I know it’s time to stay indoors and maybe do a little retail therapy! Today, we’re looking at leather horse jewelry. Check out the rugged lines and simple elegance of this leather and horseshoe nails bracelet. It’s a bracelet that can be worn by men and women – it’s a big favorite of many young men we know.
