Today it’s all about the letter “C” here! We’re going to be talking about Circus Horse Jewelry and Celluloid Horse Jewelry.
The circus tent is still and dark. In the stands, parents hush children, warning them to be still, promising that soon, something amazing would happen. And suddenly, a spotlight, bright, white, illuminating filled the ring.
And there in the light, the most magnificent horse you’d ever seen, with glorious feather plumes, running – no, prancing – around the ring, beautiful and proud. The feeling you felt when you saw that horse, the swelling in your lungs, the sudden, fierce ache in your chest – that was love, pure love, as fine and wonderful as any love there has ever been. All for that beautiful, beautiful circus horse.
Circus Horse Jewelry
The circus horse occupies a special place in our hearts and imagination. If you love circus horses, you’ll want to check out this Florenza Horse Pin. This pin has green rhinestone eyes that really sparkle. From the well-known Vintage Circus series, this is a great pin to add whimsy and flair to any outfit. (That’s item #EA0052 in the picture – EA0052A has already started its journey to a new lucky owner!)
Celluloid Horse Jewelry
Vintage horse jewelry collectors love to find great quality celluloid horse jewelry. One example is this lovely oval brooch. This pin features two riders on horseback; a dapper gentleman and his lady companion. The detailed carving is amazing. Celluloid was popular during the 1920’s, when this brooch was made. It looks like ivory, and is an early alternative to plastic. Celluloid is fragile. Not many fine pieces of celluloid horse jewelry have survived over the years: high temperatures and moisture can cause damage. It’s a great rare find to find a piece in such wonderful condition. You’ll enjoy wearing it!
